(FTIR) Self Diagnostics - IRSpirit

The IRSpirit has a self-diagnosis function.
The IRSpirit automatically checks its own status during operation or initilization. When all items are judged OK, the IRSpirit can be used normally. The contents of the self-diagnosis are described below.
Items to be checked when IRSpirit is initialized, or when [Instrument]-[Diagnostics] are selected.
• Laser
  Lighting, Drive Voltage, Drive Current, Element Temperature, Wavelength, Status
• Interferometer
  Internal Temperature, Temperature sensor, Internal Humidity, Humidity sensor, Dehumidifier Driving Voltage
• Light source
  Lighting, Overcurrent, Currnet, ON Duty
• Interlock mechanism
• Moving mirror
• Infrared detector
• Instrument System Error
• Accessory
• Fixed mirror piezo actuator voltage
• Infrared power spectrum shape
• Laser wavelength
• Laser and light source usage time
Items always checked while the IRSpirit is operating in Status window:
• Laser lighting
• Laser temperature
• Light source lighting
• Interferometer humidity
• Window
• Presence of QuickStart accessory and its information

 

« Self Diagnostics during Initialization »

Selecting the [Initialize] on [Instrument] button initializes IRSpirit and executes self diagnostics. The result of the self diagnostics is recorded on the operation log and as result file. The result file is stored onto the "Diagnostics" folder in the folder which LabSolutions IR is installed.
When a test item passes, "Pass" is recorded in the log. When an item fails, "Fail" is recorded in the log.

 

If [Laser] or [Light Source] failed, the applicable part must be replaced. Please contact a Shimadzu sales or service representative.

 

If [Humidity] failed, the humidity inside the interferometer may have increased, which may damage the optical element.

In this case:

  1) Remove the AC power cable immediately and do not use the IRSpirit.
  2) Remove the Silica gel case backside of IRSpirit and replace to new silica gels immediately.
    When the Dehumidifier is installed, replace to the Silica gel case and replace to new silica gels.

  3) Then contact a Shimadzu sales or service representative.

 

Because "Power spectrum" measures a power spectrum with no sample in the sample compartment, remove any samples and accessories from the sample compartment. If this test was failed by interrupting the beam, you can execute self diagnostics in LabSolutions IR after initialization. If this test was failed with the sample compartment empty, execute [Auto Adjust]. If the test is still failed after auto adjustment, the beam splitter might be damaged. Click [Instrument] on the scan toolbar in LabSolutions IR and select [Diagnostics] to display the Diagnostic Screen.

NOTE: The used hours of the light source and laser at the time of installation includes the time when the IRSpirit was manufactured and inspected. So used hours may be defferent from hours after installation.
