If a fatal software error is created by e.g. power outages / surges to IT infrastructure or critical software clashes; it may be required to perform the reinstallation of LabSolutions 5.xx (filebased) to recover the workstation software.
Instructions on how to perform a full clean re-installation of LabSolutions.
1 | Make a copy of the Data folder from the LabSolutions folder on C drive (or any other folders within the LabSolutions folder which you store data files in if you do not store them in the Data folder). Just copying it to the desktop should be fine or safer would be an external hard disk. |
2 | Make a note of the names of the instruments you have configured and what their configurations are. |
3 | If you have a USB licence, this needs to be removed from the PC, otherwise you can leave the electronic licence |
4 | Uninstall SkyPDF via control panel |
5 | Uninstall LabSolutions through via control panel |
6 | Delete the LabSolutions folder from the C drive |
7 | Delete the LabSolutions folder from the programs files (x86) folder on the C drive |
8 | On the LabSolutions disk there are two .bat files you should run. \\LabSolutionsLCGC\Supplement. These are: ClearSkyPDF.bat ClearLabSolutions.bat Execute these two .bat’s (as windows administrator) on the system |
9 | Restart PC |
10 | Re-install software as before |
11 | Insert USB licence if this was removed |
12 | Add the Data folder from the desktop back into the LabSolutions folder on C drive |
13 | Start LabSolutions, you will have to configure the instrument again as this will have been lost. |
