Migrating LabSolutions Licenses when replacing a PC

PCs that have LabSolutions installed require a software license to be installed to allow operation of the software. The license may be in the form of a USB dongle (plugged in to the PC) or as an electronic license that is registered with an online account.

For installations with a USB license dongle, this can simply be plugged in to the replacement PC following the installation of the LabSolutions software.

For installations with an electronic license, the following steps must be followed in order to transfer the license from one PC to another.

1) Obtain the license serial number and unique security code. This is present on the paper certificate that was delivered with the software. If this is not available, it can be obtained online from the Shimadzu Software License Management System, logging in with the user account that hold the license.

• Navigate to activate.an.shimadzu.co.jp and log in with account details
• Select 'Manage License'
• Select the icon next to the licenses you are intending to transfer
• Record the serial number and security code of each license you intend to transfer 

2) Deactivate the license(s) on the current PC

• Open the Shimadzu License Management Tool from the Windows menu
• Click on the 'Deactivate' tab
• Click 'Deactivate' and store the deactivation code safely
• Navigate to activate.an.shimadzu.co.jp and log in with account details
• Click 'Deactivate'
• Enter the deactivation code obtained previously from the Shimadzu License Management Tool
• The license now becomes available for re-use

3) Activate the license on the new PC

• Install LabSolutions software
• Open the Shimadzu License Management Tool from the Windows menu
• Click on the 'Activate' tab
• Click on 'Acquire' and store the acquired machine code safely, keep this window open during the next steps
• Navigate to activate.an.shimadzu.co.jp and log in with account details
• Click 'Activate'
• Enter the machine code obtained previously from the Shimadzu License Management Tool
• Enter the serial number and security code of the software license
• Click 'Activate' and store the activation code safely
• Return to the Shimadzu License Management Tool and enter the activation code
• Click 'Activate'
• Reboot the PC. 

The replacement PC should now be licensed to operate LabSolutions software.
